Here's another tip regarding the problem with the Mac:
If some of you use Little Snitch or other network monitoring
programs, then check your entries and search for something like
"ubd" or "Ubiquity"
In my case the traffic was completely blocked so I couldn't get any
information in or out
Now it's syncing fluently .. it's a great app, really handy
I’m sorry that iCoud sync in Writer has been such a
painful experience for you. This is the opposite of what Writer is
about, and we’ve also been feeling really frustrated by the
situation. Thankfully iCloud issues seem to be decreasing,
we’ve been working hard on improving Writer’s iCloud
support, and Apple seems to have also been busy fixing bugs.
To everyone who commented that you’re still having
problems, can you please let me know if this is still the case.
I’ll then contact you directly to see if there’s
anything we can do to help.
Once again my apologies for these iCloud problems. Hopefully
they’ll be a thing of the past very soon!
I just started using iAWriter this afternoon ... and after
writing a few pages, I realized I didn't have any idea how to save
my writing on my new iPad. I don't think I have iCloud set up yet
and all I want to do for now is to save my writing to my iPad ...
but without knowing which symbol means what ... I am worried that I
will hit the wrong symbol and lose all my writing. Can you please
let me know what to do? Thank you. I don't want to leave the 'page'
at all for fear that it will all disappear. Help!
I can save to iCloud on my MAC but none of the stuff I created
and saved to iCloud on my iPad is showing up on my MAC, any
suggestions? Same iCloud account. Would like to be able to write
something on either and have it appear on both devices. Thanks!
I have an old Mac with lots of cool software and gadgets on it.
I have an iPad that I bought iA Writer for last year. I use it to
tap out my homework before dressing it up in InDesign on the old
Mac. I used to just tell it to send my stuff to my dropbox account,
and it would show up nicely on my mac, but now that is gone.
Instead, it sends the files to iCloud (when did I tell the iPad
that I wanted it to do this?) where the old Mac can't see them,
because G5's only run Leopard. I don't want to buy iA Writer for
the Mac (I have way bigger iron) so that I can access plain text
files. Don't want to buy a new Mac just to get the files. I also
don't want to go through the crude "send myself an email" method. I
just want to tell the iPad to send the Mac a text file I just typed
in Writer while I'm at class. Is there a way I can directly access
the files stored on iCloud via Safari? I tried on the website, but
it doesn't show up as an app.
@Max (& possibly other recent posters) — I’m
sorry, but this is the support forum for iA Writer, which is
not the same program as DayOne. I know
you’ve arrived here via a link on DayOne’s FAQ page,
and I’ve asked DayOne to remove this link. Please contact
DayOne directly at support @ dayoneapp.com (with no
spaces) regarding iCloud problems with their app.
I’ll remove DayOne-related posts and close this discussion
for now. If any iA Writer customers are having problems with
iCloud, please search Discussions for an appropriate open
iCloud-related discussion to join, or please start a new
